Mission & Goals
Vision Statement
The vision of James Madison High School is to provide a high quality education for all students that will enable them to reach their maximum potential as responsible, productive citizens and life-long learners.  Drawing upon our diverse environment encourages each student to grow intellectually and emotionally, to act purposefully and morally, and to lead an active, healthy life.


Mission Statement
It is the mission of James Madison High School to provide all students  with the tools necessary for lifelong learning.


Expected Schoolwide Learning Results
Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) clarify for the entire school community what students will know, understand and be able to do when they graduate from high school.  Madison's ESLRs were first developed in the spring of 1998 and reaffirmed during our successful WASC visit in 2005.

  • Effective Communicator – Literacy: Madison High School students, with special support for English learners, will be able to demonstrate literacy by improving performance on standardized tests by effectively communicating in writing, orally, and through the use of current, appropriate technology.
  • Effective Communicator – Numeracy (Math): Madison High School students, with special support for English learners, will be able to demonstrate numeracy (math skills) by improving performance on standardized tests and by effectively communicating their knowledge in writing, orally, and through the use of current, appropriate technology.
  • Complex Thinkers: Madison High School students will become complex thinkers who are able to access, analyze, and synthesize information to solve problems and to attain their academic and personal goals.
  • Collaborative Workers: Madison High School students will develop the necessary interpersonal skills to productively and collaboratively work while maintaining positive relations within diverse settings.
  • Responsible Citizen: Madison High School students will have the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to be informed consumers, productive workers, and responsible citizens.
