The Counseling Center is staffed by people who care about students’ needs and assist them with educational planning; home, school and/or social concerns; career information; administration and interpretation of test scores; college admission and financial aid advisement; or other issues students would like to discuss with a counselor. Referrals to an outside resource are also available.
Each student is assigned to a counselor at the beginning of the freshman year according to an alphabetical breakdown. Counselors are available before school, after school, during lunch or by appointment. To see their counselor, students fill out a “Request to See Counselor” form before/after school or during lunch. Counselors will send for the student with a green pass. Since the counselors respect class time, students should not ask for nor be given "white" passes to the Counseling Office, to prevent wasted time waiting to see a counselor.
The Counseling Center has extensive information on colleges, careers, and testing schedules/ applications (including SAT, ACT, PSAT, and the CA High School Exit Exam). Madison students are college bound and college-ready.
